Facebook and Rapid Cognition

I'm making a short post to remind me to write about an idea I had. Karen, my fellow PhD student in LIS, and Malcom Gladwell's Blink jumped me into thinking about first impressions (initial instances of rapid cognition) are being shaped by Facebook. Mainly, how does it differ when you see/meet someone someone on FB first, vs. meeting them in person just a little bit and then getting the digital impression?

Often times Facebook exposes a lot more information, directly and indirectly, about that person. I'm finding myself at a disadvantage in my people reads if they're not on Facebook. Since EVERYONE is on it is this picture ubiquitous? Extensions of personality having agency outside of the FTF world...
